Carleton Disability Awareness Centre (CDAC)

We’re on a mission to challenge stereotypes about disability and break down barriers at Carleton University.

CDAC provides a variety of services such as wheelchair and crutch rentals, an accessible lounge space, a brailler, and a screen reader. To further build and support our community, we host movie nights, community drop ins hours and volunteer opportunities. CDAC coordinators are always happy to provide on and off campus resources. CDAC endeavors to challenge the stereotypes about disability and assist in the removal of barriers to every aspect of everyday life.

We take pride in being a space where disability issues are heard, discussed, and addressed. Our aim is to provide meaningful events and advocate for the issues that matter most to the Carleton Community.

We’re thrilled to bring you a diverse range of events throughout the year like, including “distress with pets,” “sex and disability” workshops, and engaging “fidget toy” workshops – all designed to create enriching experiences for our community.
We also offer a variety of invaluable services, such as wheelchair and crutch rentals, providing accessible lounge spaces, a brailler, and a screen reader to ensure that every student has the support they need.

Our dedicated CDAC coordinators are always ready to assist you with on and off-campus resources, ensuring that you have the support you need at every step. Together, let’s build a more inclusive and accessible environment for all!

CDAC’s programs include speaker events and workshops regarding issues surrounding visible and non-visible disabilities, including mental health, sexuality, accessibility, and more. The centre also runs programs to support disabled students on campus, such as wheelchair rentals and campaigns to improve accessibility and disability awareness on campus.

Volunteer with us! CDAC is always accepting volunteers to help us run events, distribute resources, and provide peer support. Want to get involved? Fill out the volunteer application to get started.
