On November 7th, CUSA welcomed prospective representatives of Ottawa colleges and universities to Haven Connect to finalize plans for the formalization of the Ottawa Student Alliance (OSA).
In attendance was Minolli Thabo, Campaigns Coordinator for the University of Ottawa Students’ Union, Josh Ansaldo, Vice President of the Algonquin College Students’ Association, Alidor Molele, President of Association étudiante de La Cité, and Artur Estrela da Silva and Aidan Kallioinen, representing CUSA.
The meeting focused on delivering a short-list of specific advocacy priorities the organization could focus on. During networking, topics included transit, housing, and tuition challenges. The meeting was also a chance for prospective members to exercise feedback on the organization’s constitution and mandate, which will be approved by each organization’s respective governing body.
CUSA hopes the alliance will help further student voices in Ottawa and encourage cross-collaboration between student groups across the city.
