CUSA Statement on the Green Square Campaign

Today, January 29th, is the National Day of Remembrance and Action Against Islamophobia. This day marks the anniversary of the tragic Quebec City Mosque Attack of 2017, in which the heinous actions of those perpetuating Islamophobia in Canada left six dead and five seriously injured. As a reflection of this solemn anniversary, CUSA acknowledges the impact of Islamophobia in our society and commits to combating all forms of hatred. Islamophobia is not only a threat to Muslim communities at Carleton University, but to all of our student body.

The Green Square Campaign reminds us to keep the victims, survivors, and families of the attack in our thoughts while advocating for justice, equity, and inclusion. On this day, CUSA calls on the Carleton community to stand united against prejudice and discrimination.

CUSA encourages the Carleton community to take meaningful action towards fostering an inclusive campus. By participating in the Green Square Campaign and connecting with student organizations, we can build a safe community that fosters belonging and where diversity is celebrated.
