CUSA Meets with Mayor Sutcliffe and Councillor Gower to Discuss Transit Concerns

On Friday, November 1st, CUSA President Sarah El Fitori and Associate V.P. for University and Government Relations Aidan Kallioinen spoke with both Mayor Mark Sutcliffe and Councillor Glen Gower, Chair of the Transit Commission.

The purpose of the meeting was to outline the student experience surrounding transit in Ottawa. Our meeting delved into three key areas of student priorities: The opening of O-Train Line 2, the relative affordability of U-Pass and EquiPass, as well as general concerns around the frequency and reliability of service. Issues around communication with students repeatedly came to attention. We shared individual students’ testimony and spoke to our own experiences.

We were able to ensure that, on behalf of students, CUSA receives clear and regular communication regarding timelines on O-Train Line 2 and eventual changes under the City’s New Ways to Bus Campaign

We look forward to the opening of O-Train Line 2, and an eventual visit from the Mayor to CUSA’s offices.
