CUSA Council has five standing committees. There are also two joint standing committees between Council and the CUSA Board of Directors. In a given year, Council may also choose to constitute ad hoc committees to investigate and examine particular topics or issues.
For each committee, there may also be subcommittees such as the Accessibility and Facilities Management subcommittee, Student Initiative Fund subcommittee, and CUSA Awards subcommittee.
This Committee is tasked with setting the agenda for every meeting, reviewing governance policies and recommending changes to Council, and pursuing best parliamentary practice and governance.

This Committee is tasked with reviewing the finances of the Association, including the budget, student fees, and the distribution of student funds in CUSA programs.

This Committee is tasked with university based advocacy, including but not limited to academic concerns, on-campus equity and empowerment of marginalized groups, and general advocacy and political positions of the Association.

This Committee is tasked with external outreach and advocacy through, including but not limited to community outreach, partnerships, alliances, and branding efforts on behalf of the Association.

This Committee is tasked with nominating and selecting the Directors of the Board in a highly-specialized process with authority shared between Council and the Board.

CUSA commissions are similar to committees, however unlike committees, commissions have delegated legislative power and decision-making authority on particular matters.
